Ny valpegård / puppy playground

Dette er den nye store valpehagen som N-kullet koser seg i om dagen. Like greit å sette opp solide gjerder med en gang! De har stor gressplen å løpe på, masse trær og pinner å gnage på, båsene til venstre kan de gå inn i og legge seg under tak på en benk bygget opp fra gulvet. Havanne er veldig sliten etter å ha oppdratt 12 valper og er ikke sammen med dem lenger, men de er løse sammen med henne en liten stund hver dag for litt lek og oppdragelse. Valpene er også løse ute på tomta sammen med noen av våre andre voksne pyreneerhunder og har lært mye viktig hundespråk av dette. De er dessuten supersosiale med mennesker etter å ha hatt besøk nesten daglig den siste tiden.

O-kullet er fortsatt sammen med sin mamma Gavarnie i hagen rett utenfor verandan vår. De må være sammen med moren sin en uke til.

Alle valpene er nå så store at begge tispene gjerne tar imot besøk. De er svært stolte over sine valper. Dere som vil se på valpene kan bare ta en telefon eller sende en meldig så avtaler vi en tid som passer. Det er valper ledig av begge kjønn i begge kullene.

I dag skal N-kullet få komme ut for første gang. Det er vært for mye snø til nå, men endelig er det sol og varmt ute.

o-litter opening their eyes

The last weeks I have been busy busy.... 21 puppies and their mums requires a lot of attention and care. Not much sleep last month...

Gavarnie and her puppies are doing well. They are 12 days old. They have just started opening their eyes and as allways I am looking forward to see their expressions. They are well fed by their mother and trying to walk, much happens this age. To protect their half opened eyes the photos have to wait a couple of days, then I will try some without the blitz.

Havannes puppies are growing, they are 4 weeks today, and has allready been eating puppy food for a week. The males are big. I am planning to take standing photos of them this weekend. They are spending their days eating, sleeping, pooping, playing and barking. I am preparing an outdoor kennel for them so they soon can come out in the sunny weather, but it is still too cold and we have a lot of snow :-( I am not too happy about the snow conditions.

We have show quality puppies available of both sexes from both litters. With 21 puppies there is a lot to chose from! Normally the puppies should be 5 weeks before visitors come to see them. This is because the mums can get very stressed and does not take care of the puppies while the visitors are here. Another reason is the risk of contamination and the puppies are very fragile. Havanne loves visitors allready and people familiar to the dogs are allowed to visit, but for Gavarnie it is too early for visitors. In a week or two our puppy buyers are very welcome to visit.

The temperature is falling today which means that Gavarnie will probably deliver her puppies tonight or tomorrow morning.

Gavarnie må snart overta valpekassa, så Havanne og hennes 12 små skal flyttes over til et større rom slik at de får bedre plass.

Øynene åpnes!

Nå har flere av valpene åpnet  øynene! Det er så spennende å se hva slags uttrykk de får, også får man litt mer kontakt med de når de ser noe.

Gavarnie 10 dager igjen

Gavarnie er nå stor som en hval og ligger bare og sover. Det som er helt sikkert er at dette også blir et stort kull.

N-kull 1 uke

Med hele 12 valper i kullet har det knyttet seg stor spenning til om alle ville klare seg, og det har de gjort! Jeg hadde regnet med en stor jobb med tilleggsforing av valpene, men tåteflaskene står fortsatt urørt. Havanne har en overflod av melk og spiser 3-4 ganger mer enn sin normale dagsrasjon. Det betyr at hun må ut på do midt på natta og det er lenge siden jeg sov en helt natt. Alle valpene er store og velfødde, sterke og fornøyde. I skrivende stund er de 8 døgn, de tar sine første skritt, men har ikke åpnet øynene enda.

Havanne is growing and is obviously having a large litter. The puppy room is almost ready, the birth is scheduled in less than 10 days.

Gavarnie is now 5 weeks pregnant and belly is growing.

I am so happy for the friendship the two girls have, it makes it so much easier.

Valper ventes

Et helt år er gått siden siste innlegg og det er på tide å åpne valpebloggen igjen! Vi venter nemlig to kull med pyreneerhund valper. Våre egne meget høyt premierte hannhunder er parret med to tisper importert i fra Belgia. Ciachi og Cachemire nærmer seg pensjonisttilværelsen og det er lite sannsynlig at de vil få flere kull, så dette er siste sjanse.

Havanne du Tuc de l'Adosse (imp Belgia, HD A) er parret med Int Nord N S DK Fin Uch NV-05 Cachemire de Beaute Blanche (HD A). Valpene ventes ca 28/2-2011. Meget spennende kombinasjon!

Gavarnie du Mas de Beauvoisin (imp Belgia, HD A) er parret med N S Uch Ciachi du Valle de Joli Jaunter (HD A). Valpene ventes 16/3-2011. Igjen en meget spennede kombinasjon! Mer om begge kullene på hjemmesiden www.jolijaunter.com .

Havanne og Gavarnie er gode venninner og begge bor inne i huset sammen med oss. De skal få hvert sitt valperom med valpekasse når tiden nærmer seg.

Valpenytt!

Alle valpene vokser og trives. Samtlige valper i alle tre kullene har nå åpnet øynene og fått litt mer personlighet.

Pyreneervalpene

Dette kullet er jeg meget fornøyd med. Alle valpene er store og sterke. De er velvinklede med kraftig beinstamme akkurat som begge foreldrene. Allerede ved en ukes alder var alle på beina og hadde åpnet øynene. Nå som de er to uker kommer de allerede bort til meg når jeg går bort til kassa og smatter, så det er tydelig at de også hører godt. De har alle sammen fått nydelige tegninger. Jeg tror noen blir grå som Ciachi og noen lyse som Bliss i fargen. For de som ikke har sett små pyreneervalper før kan jeg fortelle at de fleste som er født med grå tegninger blir helt lyse som voksne, bare ørene forblir grå. En slik maske som Ciachi har er en sjeldenhet idag, men kan ofte sees på gamle postkort fra pyreneene. Fordelen med den mørke fargen er at de får veldig sterkt pigment. Snutene ble kullsorte etter bare noen dager og nå er også alle potene i ferd med å bli sorte. Flere av valpene ligner veldig på Ciachi, ikke bare i fargen, men de har også hans hode og kropp.

Volpinovalpene

Dette er jo de første volpinovalpene vi har etter at vi overtok to voksne tisper fra en annen oppdretter ifjor, men det ser veldig lovende ut. Valpene til Frida er allerede 3 1/2 uke gamle og er nå blitt usedvanlig søte. Ørene har løftet seg og de har fått fluffy pels. De har såvidt begynt å leke litt med hverandre, men er ennå noe ustøe på beina. Fridas valper bor i stua og blir naturlig nok ofte tatt opp på fanget når noen ser på TV. Qyriah bor fortsatt på eget rom med sine valper, de er fortsatt så små at hun ønsker å ha de ifred. De har åpnet øynene, men ikke begynt å bevege seg noe særlig ennå.

Happy new year!

The year 2009 is over and I am sitting next to the whelping box writing, while I constantly watch over Bliss and her puppies. In the next room Frida is sleeping with her puppies. So peaceful.

This year has been very very busy since we startet the pension for dogs and cats. All work with the pension has been done in addition to our ordinary jobs and taking care of own dogs. In 2010 I will have to make a change in my working situation. We got a new breed this year thanks to the pension, two volpino italiano females stayed in pension for a very long period and we decided to keep them when we got the offer.

The dogs have had great success in shows. The top memory is Ciachi winning best male in the Sweedish specialty and Bliss second best female, only beaten by her most beautiful half sister which is also a daughter of our Cachemire. The same thing has happend in Norje Boke before, Ciachi best male, Bonnie 2nd best female only beaten by her half sister!

I made a debut in the showring with a volpino! What a difference there is, showing pyrs and volpinos... Qyriah startet her first shows ever and gained two CAC in 3 shows. A wish for 2010 is to get Qyriah her champion title, but first she is expecting her first litter!

Ciachi came home from his stud stay in Belgium and he has got beautiful offspring in France, Belgium and Switzerland and I am so proud that so many breeders in Europe has kept and bought his offspring for future breeding. On my visit in Belgium I was so lucky to see some of his offspring. Yesterday he became father again to the 8 puppies of Bliss, they all have the markings of their father! Two puppies were lost, there was a total of 10 puppies like I expected! These puppies are line bred my foundation female Jolie (Ch Sayot's Jaunty Japonica) who had the beautiful dark blaireau markings. We sadly lost Jolie in the beginning of the year, she was 11 years old and healthy all her life. Inloc Kaptain in Jolie's pedigree had the most beautiful markings and I obviosly managed to double the gene.

In March Cristal had her puppies from the beautiful French import Clermont da Serra do Mar. Only 5 puppies in our J-litter, but very beautiful heads! It was again a very sad day when Jolene passed away only 6 months old, I will never forget her.

Later in 2010 we also plan to breed the beautiful Belgian princess Gavarnie, that is if she comes to heat in the spring, I want no more winter puppies! Gavarnie is engaged to Ciachi, and later to Igor.

Health results have again been excellent this year as before, all pyr hips A/A and Qyriah eye checked all clear. I hope this continues, at least I will do my best to get excellent health results in my breeding.

The whelping boxes

Bliss and the volpino girls all have the symptoms of pregnancy. First out is Frida expecting the puppies on new years eve, then Bliss a couple of days after and then Qyriah ca 10th of January. Bliss and Ciachi both come from litters of 10 puppies. The volpinos get on average 4 puppies. The pyr whelping box will be placed in my computer room/office/puppies room. Then I have to make two brand new XS whelping boxes for Frida and Qyriah :-)

New years puppies expected

During the last 14 days 5 of my females have come into heat, so this is not an easy time for the males in my kennel. Since the two volpino girls were going to be mated at the same time, I had to cancel the trip to Belgium with Bliss. I took a progesteron test of Bliss, but it was lost somewhere between the vet and the lab. Last time in Belgium I arrived too late in the heat and got no puppies. I decided this time it was better to mate her at home in an environment where she felt safe and relaxed. I think that is a much better option for her first litter. She loves Ciachi and she was mated to him as early as day 8 in the heat. No wonder it was too late last time. I really hope with this combination to preserv some of the rare dark blaireau and arrouye markings in this line. In addition both dogs are very sound in construction and movement, according to specialty judges made for moving in the mountains.

About the volpinos: Frida has been mated to the beautiful Skymningens Igor, and Qyriah is now ready to be mated to the beautiful Hedehuset's Matteo Bonaventura. Big thanks to their owner Laila (kennel Skreppeng) for letting the boys stay here with my girls this very busy week. I look forward to our first volpino puppies in the end of this year.

Planlagte kull /Planned litters

I have been planning to mate both my volpino females this autumn, they are so small and normally gets about 4 puppies so I was thinking about two litters at the same time. Now they have come into heat only 4 days apart. Then Bliss who was going to be remarried to Cantaou in December got the idea "why not three litters at the same time?" and came into heat a month earlier than planned together with the two volpino girls.

Norje Boke 2009

We had a great weekend in Norje Boke participating in the Sweedish specialty show. The judge this year was Dr Guido Massimello. We entered 5 (!) dogs for him, two puppies and three adults. We are very proud that Ciachi for the second time was selected BEST MALE in the specialty and Bliss 2nd BEST FEMALE!
